Nonprofit outsourcing in the face of The Great Resignation

Nonprofit outsourcing in the face of The Great Resignation

Refocus on your core mission.Published November 9, 2021

The Great Resignation. A record 4.3 million Americans quit their jobs in August, according to the Labor Department. Since the spring, about 4 million people have been quitting every month. A recent poll found due to the pandemic, 50% of working Americans are looking to make career changes in search of more flexible jobs.

For organization leaders these stats are daunting – staff turnover is costly and replacing team members is time consuming. Every organization, in particular nonprofits, were being asked to do more with less and now with The Great Resignation happening, this includes much needed manpower. Taking a closer look at nonprofit stats, a new study from Nonprofit HR revealed that 45% of responding nonprofit employees indicated that they will seek new or different employment in the next five years. 22% of nonprofits credit dissatisfaction or disengagement with current leadership as a primary driver of turnover.

With employee retention and satisfaction keeping many up at night, now is an ideal time to assess potential resources that can help you mitigate The Great Resignation. Historically, during “normal” times, nonprofits already face challenges when hiring skilled, qualified, and experienced employees due to budget constraints and competition. Considering outsourcing certain activities allows your team to focus on their areas of expertise and remove one (or more) of the many tasks impeding strategic thought and employee satisfaction. Benefits of outsourcing for nonprofits are plentiful, including:

  • Reduced operational cost
  • Access to high-level expertise
  • Reliable schedule and fast delivery
  • Refocus on the core mission

A commitment to your employees’ strengths and talents will allow your team to dial in on advancing your mission instead of getting bogged down with activities that take time, attention, and ultimately overall impact away from your cause. The good news is Up10 Solutions is here to help.
