The Up10 Business Development Alliance

Driving Non-Dues Revenue Through Strategic Collaboration

Launched in late 2024, the Up10 Business Development Alliance (BDA) was created to help CPA state societies modernize business development efforts, strengthen vendor relationships, and generate sustainable non-dues revenue — without adding strain to internal staff.

Built specifically for associations, the Alliance replaces one-off sponsorships with scalable, value-driven partnerships designed to create year-round impact.

The Challenge

CPA state societies, like many associations, face increasing pressure to:

  • Generate meaningful non-dues revenue

  • Deliver measurable member value

  • Maintain strong vendor relationships

  • Do more without expanding staff capacity

The Solution: A Collaborative Business Development Model

The Up10 Business Development Alliance introduced a shared, turnkey framework that allows participating societies to collaborate on programming, vendor engagement, and education.

The model creates:

  • Scaled vendor opportunities across multiple states

  • Simplified processes for participating societies

  • Consistent, high-value educational programming for members

  • Predictable, diversified non-dues revenue streams

The Impact

Since launch, the Alliance has delivered measurable impact:

  • 22 CPA State Societies participating

  • $100,000 in non-dues revenue generated in year one

  • $5,000–$10,000 average revenue per society in their first full year

TSCPA is very happy with our new partnership with Up10’s Business Development Alliance. Over the past three months, we’ve secured three new partnerships, each tailored to fit our Society’s unique rules and preferences. We especially value the flexibility to negotiate terms that work for us.

Initiative Spotlight:

Member Appreciation Day (MAD) Events

One of the Alliance’s most successful initiatives is the Member Appreciation Day (MAD) event series — a multi-state collaboration designed to strengthen member engagement while creating meaningful vendor visibility.

In its most recent cycle, nine CPA State Societies—Kentucky, Indiana, Oregon, Maryland, Virginia, Missouri, Connecticut, Nebraska, and Utah—hosted coordinated, high-impact events.

MAD Event Impact

  • 9 CPA State Societies participated

  • 57 vendors showcased solutions

  • 3,650 members registered

  • 57 hours of complimentary CPE delivered

  • $75,000 in non-dues revenue generated

The result: meaningful member value, expanded vendor reach, and revenue growth — all within a streamlined, shared framework.

Why It Works

The Business Development Alliance succeeds by:

  • Creating scale and shared opportunity across associations

  • Streamlining the front-end process while accelerating vendor connections

  • Delivering tangible value through education, thought leadership, and engagement

  • Generating predictable, non-dues revenue with minimal additional lift for staff

The model transforms business development from transactional sponsorship sales into long-term strategic partnership building.

Looking Ahead

With strong early adoption and consistent revenue results, the Up10 Business Development Alliance continues to expand—proving that collaborative, modern business development models can drive measurable impact for associations.
